Merchants Century Limited (招商世紀有限公司) is the data user responsible for personal data collected through this website and in the course of providing money services.
What we collect
- Identity and contact details of customers, directors and beneficial owners, including identification documents required under Cap. 615.
- Transaction details: amounts, currencies, counterparties, purpose and supporting documents.
- Enquiry details submitted through the demo request form: name, company, email, phone, corridors and volume.
- Technical data such as IP address and browser type when you visit this site.
Why we collect it
- To carry out customer due diligence and comply with the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Ordinance and related guidelines.
- To execute remittance and money-changing instructions.
- To respond to enquiries and demo requests.
- To meet record-keeping, reporting and audit obligations to the Customs and Excise Department and other authorities.
Disclosure
We may disclose personal data to correspondent and banking partners necessary to execute a transaction; to the Customs and Excise Department, the Joint Financial Intelligence Unit and other authorities where required by law; and to professional advisers and service providers bound by confidentiality. We do not sell personal data or use it for direct marketing without consent.
Retention
Identification and transaction records are retained for the statutory period under Cap. 615 after the end of the business relationship or the transaction, and otherwise for no longer than necessary for the purposes above.
Your rights
You may request access to or correction of your personal data under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. Requests may be made in writing to either of our licensed premises. We may charge a reasonable fee for access requests as permitted by the Ordinance.
Security
Personal data is held in Hong Kong with physical and electronic access controls. Records required for inspection are kept at our local place for storage as notified to C&ED.
